Welcome Message

The Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics started as department of pharmacy and pharmacology under the faculty of science and later became department of pharmacology and clinical pharmacy.

The department offers courses to undergraduate students from the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences (B.Pharm.) where it is housed as well as the faculty of medicine (MBBS, BSc Anatomy, BSc Physiology, Nursing Sciences). The department also offers postgraduate training in pharmacology at both MSc and PhD level. A new programme (PGD Pharmacology) is in the offing.

MISSION

Instil in the students a sense of appreciation of the Pharmacology program and involve them in intellectually stimulating and satisfying experience of learning and study read more
Instil in the student the dynamic value of the Pharmacology profession, which makes life long learning a necessity
Develop in the student the ability to apply Pharmacological knowledge in Health Care Delivery System
Provide to the student a broad and balanced foundation in all areas of Pharmaceutical knowledge
Provide students with Pharmaclogical knowledge and skills to identify and solve drug related problems. The knowledge includes Human and Veterinary related drug therapeutic problems.
Provide students with adequate knowledge and appropriate skills from which they can proceed to acquire more knowledge in specialised areas of Pharmacology

The philosophy of the Pharmacology program is to produce educated persons and well trained professionals that will be able to provide relevant pharmaceutical services to the public.
